MANILA, Philippines – Senator Jinggoy Estrada is not the only lawmaker who realigned “pork barrel” fund to an office headed by a close relative, after all.
Apparently, Senator Nancy Binay did it, too. And more.
Binay gave P300 million to the National Housing Authority (NHA), an agency under the supervision of her father, incumbent Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Binay’s realignment is three times that of Estrada, who endured public criticisms for allotting P100 million of his pork barrel to the City of Manila, where his father, ex-President Joseph Estrada, currently sits as mayor.
According to reports, Binay has augmented the NHA’s budget by increasing its funding from P10.952-billion to P11.252-billion, and which was approved by the Senate Finance Committee headed by Senator Francis Escudero. (Click here to read more)
