MANILA, Philippines – Senator Jinggoy Estrada pleaded to spare her mother, former First Lady and Senator Loi Estrada, from the “pork barrel” controversy after reports linking her to the scam surfaced in a newspaper recently.
The broadsheet newspaper Philippine Daily Inquirer revealed in a recent article about sworn statements submitted to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) allegedly detailing transactions of the former First Lady’s Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF) channeled through the bogus non-government organizations (NGOs) of the alleged “pork barrel scam” mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles, much like the scheme her son was accused of.
“She feels so bad, she feels so upset on what’s happening. I hope she’ll be spared. My mother has nothing to do with this,” Jinggoy told reporters.
He said the move to implicate her mother in the scam is part of the conspiracy to bring their family down, but the senator said he remains optimistic the truth will come out to vindicate them. (Click here to read more)
