A 28-year-old mother from Arapahoe County, Colorado, convinced her neighbors and the community that her little son is diagnosed with cancer and has only eight months to live in order to scam thousands of dollars from charitable donations.
Sandy Nguyen apparently fabricated the elaborate lie so convincingly even her own six-year-old son believed he was, indeed, sick. And so does the family.
It was last September 2012 when Nguyen started telling everyone in the community her son was diagnosed in April with an “aggressive, rare, stage 3 childhood bone cancer and Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.”
The community then organized a 5K charity walk in order to raise fund for the supposedly cancer-stricken boy.
Out of sympathy, the tickets for the events were sold out while businessmen and several individuals contributed thousands for the boy. (Click here to read more)
