Help poured out in droves, and Filipino’s distinctive “Bayanihan” spirit set in.
An article written by BMPM (Bayan Mo, IPatrol Mo) patroller Rowena Paraan featured in ABS-CBN News tells the story of how teacher Noemi Lumbao decided to build additional classrooms for students of San Rafael High School in Pilar, Sorsogon.
Oddly or otherwise, it started with a Facebook post and snowballed into decent school buildings for needy students.
According to Paraan’s article, Ma’am Lumbao used to be assigned at another school before she was offered in 2009 by the Department of Education (DepEd) to be the officer-in-charge of a school about to be built. (Click here to read more)
