Iranian Rape Victim Faces Execution If She Won’t Change ‘Version’ of Her Claim

An Iranian woman claiming to be a rape victim in 2007 faces execution if she didn’t tell the truth and alter the version of her story as demanded by the family of her assailant she killed in self-defense.

Reyhaneh Jabbari, an interior designer, killed her attacker, Moreteza Abdulai Sarbandani in 2007 after the latter allegedly lured her to an apartment for a designing job but claimed she was sexually assaulted.

She stabbed Sarbandani in an apparent self-defense, but subsequent trial and confession, which many believed to have been extracted under pressure and against her will, led to her conviction of murdering her rapist and sentenced to die by hanging. (Click here to read more)
