PM Lee Denounces Singaporean Group Protesting PH Independence Day Event

MANILA, Philippines – No less than the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsian Loong, took the cudgels for the organizers of the Philippine Independence Day celebration against a group claiming themselves as Singaporeans protesting over the holding of such event in their country.

The event set to be held on June 08 at Takashimaya was organized by the Philippine Independence Day Council –Singapore (PIDCS) in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy was protested by the group for using the word “Interdependence” and the Singapore skyline in the poster uploaded on PIDCS Facebook page, among other things.

An April 15 article published on The Real Singapore website called all Singaporeans to join in the protest against the holding of Philippine Independence Day celebration, saying the organizers cannot use the Singapore skyline in the event’s logo, poster, website or Facebook page.
