MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines ranked at 37th place in military strength among 106 nations in the world in the 2014 Global Firepower (GFP) report based on ‘each nation’s potential conventional war-making capabilities’ across land, sea and air.
According to the GFP website, the ranking is based on a formula employing more than fifty factors it compiled and measured against each nation or the Power Index.
A Power Index of 0.0000 would have been considered a perfect score, and consequently, the mightiest nation on the planet in terms of military power.
However, there are a number of elements considered or left out, bonuses and penalties which affect the ranking; the most notable of which is that nuclear capabilities are not taken into account as it is not considered a ‘conventional’ armament. (Click here to read more)
