MANILA, Philippines – The camp of Senator Jinggoy Estrada denied the accused lawmaker was aware that among his pork barrel beneficiary was a dead farmer and a 19-month-old baby.
In the testimony of one of the Ombudsman investigators before the Sandiganbayan hearing, it was revealed that most of the beneficiaries of projects funded by Estrada’s Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) were not even residents of the recipient village.
Lawyer Vic Escalante Jr. testified before the court that the field investigation they have conducted in some of the provinces where Estrada’s projects were supposedly implemented by NGOs linked to alleged mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles, yielded several irregularities.
Escalante said a farmer executed an affidavit that one of the beneficiaries in the list was his son who was barely two years old at that time. A wife also said her husband was also listed when in fact he was already dead by the time the project was supposedly implemented. (Click here to read more)
