Militant group defends Binay from Aquino’s ‘attack dogs’

ANILA, Philippines – A militant group and a long-time government critic defended Vice President Jejomar Binay from attacks supposedly engineered by the present administration with the blessing from no less than President Benigno Aquino himself.

Bayan criticized the on-going Senate investigation on alleged overpriced parking building in Makati as politically motivated, and a “clearly hypocritical” move by Aquino and his allies.

“It is clearly hypocritical for President Aquino to unleash his attack dogs against VP Binay and other leaders of the opposition, while shielding himself and his allies from similar demands and mechanisms for accountability,” Bayan chairperson Carol Araullo told ABS-CBN News.

Araullo was particularly dismayed at how there were already three consecutive probe conducted by the Senate on the controversial Makati building while only one hearing was done over the recently outlawed Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

The militant leader believes the on-going investigation is part of a scheme to undermine Binay’s presidential ambition and not an honest-to-goodness step to crackdown corruption in government. (Click here to read more)
