Infuriated by dethroned Miss Myanmar Mae Myat Noe’s allegation against the Miss Asia Pacific World, pageant officials responded by releasing a statement detailing her alleged lies and rebuking her claims.
The controversy has attracted international media attention after pageant sponsors accused Noe, whose real name is May Myat Noe That Htet Aung, of running off with the $100,000 Swarovski tiara after being stripped off the title.
On September 2, Noe called a press conference denying she stole the crown saying she only got informed she was dethroned after she boarded the plane to Myanmar from Korea.
Noe also claimed she was forced by the organizers to undergo plastic surgery and perform sexual favors in exchange for a higher ranking. She also said they lied about her age; she is 16 and not 18.
In response, the pageant organizers issued a press release titled “Lies made by Miss Aung” to give their side of the story and to belie Noe’s claim. (Click here to read more)
