The family of a missing 17-year-old student of Sorsogon State College (SSC) in Sorsogon City is asking the help of the public to locate her whereabouts after disappearing for almost two days.
A Facebook post by Sorsogon Provincial Administrator Bobet Lee Rodrigueza said Racel Joy Rocha, a 1st year engineering student, had been missing since the evening of Wednesday, August 12. She supposedly failed to return to their home in Gubat, Sorsogon after school.
In an interview with local radio DZMS, the student’s mother, Jocelyn Rocha, said her last contact with her daughter was via a text message at 6:41 pm on the day she disappeared saying there were two suspicious men allegedly following her.
The worried mother then replied back warning her daughter to be careful and, if possible, join the crowd of people. However when they tried calling the girl’s phone at 6:44, the number can no longer be contacted and was out of coverage area. (Click here to read more)
Believing that her daughter may have already boarded a passenger jeepney, the mother said they waited until 7:00 pm for her to arrive.
When Racel failed to show up, they decided to report the matter to authorities and seek help from Sorsogon City Philippine National Police (PNP). The family also started asking her classmates, and even called her ex-boyfriend who was studying in Legazpi City, Albay to ask whether she contacted him.
However, no one could tell the whereabouts of the missing student.
