In a rather surprising turn of events, the woman in Saudi Arabia who caught her husband on video sexually abusing their maid in their kitchen could possibly be arrested for violating the kingdom’s strict anti-defamation law.
The housewife who secretly recorded the incident of harassment involving her husband could be slapped with one-year jail imprisonment for uploading the video on social media, which supposedly defamed the man, as per the state’s law.
The wife uploaded the video on Twitter; triggering a host of reply and comments from social media users across the Middle East with the hashtag#SaudiWomanCatchesHusbandCheatingtrending in less than 24 hours with more than 25,000 tweets and mentions.
She also earned praises for her bravery by exposing her philandering husband who was messing around with their maid inside their own home.
“I salute you warmly for your valiant courage,” a blogger named Al Yamama said in acomment. “You did the best thing because there was an urgent need for revenge and your revenge is the best.”
Unfortunately, while the wife is apparently the aggrieved victim, she may end up being punished for defaming her husband, said a prominent Sauid lawyer.
“She faces up to one year in prison or a fine of SR500,000 ($13,328) for defaming her husband in line with the law on information technology crimes,” lawyer Majid Qaroob said. (Click here to read more)
