- A laundrywoman’s daughter from Ormoc City graduated Magna Cum Laude
- Her mom is a single parent
- Her story follows that of a fisherman’s daughter who placed second in last year’s teacher’s board examination
MANILA, Philippines – Last month, a fisherman’s daughter from Romblon became the toast of social media for serving as an inspiration to others by placing second place in the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).
This month, it’s the turn of a laundrywoman’s daughter to share her story and inspire children from underprivileged families to strive and overcome hardships in reaching for their dreams.
Almira Dirain is the daughter of a labanderafrom Ormoc City. She graduated Magna Cum Laude at St. Peter’s College; finishing Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Major in Filipino.
In a Facebook post by one Rhoel Dejano, he said Almira’s mom is a single mother who worked tirelessly so her daughter can go to college and finish a degree.
“So touched by their story,” Dejano wrote. “In her valedictory address she gave credit and honor to all the parents and most especially to her Mom.”
Dejano said Almira’s selfless mother didn’t even think how she would look like at the graduation ceremonies for as long as she gets to see her daughter march and receive her accolades on the stage.
“I talked with her Mama after the ceremonies and she said she did not mind at all what she will wear on that day as long as she can see her daughter receive her diploma and she will be able to hung her medals,” the post read.
Almira is also a scholar of SVSF, according to the post. (Click here to read more)
